Three days before the NRP Sagres set sail for Boston in the Five Sisters Cup, attended by Luisa Pais Lowe, the Consul General of Portugal in New York, and Commanding Officer José Eduardo de Sousa Luís. This event celebrated the 250th anniversary of American independence and was part of Sail250.
Guests enjoyed a variety of dishes from both the mainland and the Azores, accompanied by traditional Fado music. Over the past week, New York City has been experiencing a historic heat wave, with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees. Since the reception took place on the NRP Sagres at Pier 1, next to the East River, attendees not only enjoyed stunning views of the Manhattan skyline but also a refreshing escape from the intense heat.
