Estoril Open: Borges opens with Luz, Rocha with Martinez and Pereira with Bueno

Estoril, Lisbon, 19 Jul 2026 (Lusa) – Portuguese tennis players Nuno Borges, Henrique Rocha and Tiago Pereira met today the first opponents of the opening round of the 11th edition of the Estoril Open, taking place until Sunday at the Estoril Tennis Club.
After the qualifying phase, the draw dictated the confrontation between the maiato, national number one and 52 in the world, and the Brazilian Orlando Luz (1,072nd ATP), who won both qualifying matches and qualified, for the first time, for an ATP singles main draw in the last nine years.
While Borges will make his debut against the Brazilian, registered to play doubles alongside compatriot Rafael Matos, Henrique Rocha (124th ATP) will have as his first opponent the experienced Spaniard Pedro Martinez (157th ATP), runner-up of the Estoril Open in 2024.
The young Tiago Pereira (379th ATP), after his debut in 2025 in the then tournament scoring for the ATP Challenger Tour, will face this time the Peruvian Gonzalo Bueno (176th ATP), also 22 years old, who today eliminated in the second round of the qualifying phase the Italian Andrea Pellegrino to access the main draw of the Portuguese ATP 250.
Of the six Portuguese players in competition, only Tiago Torres, Frederico Silva and Henrique Rocha will compete on Monday, starting at 12:00, in the first round in the brick dust of the Estoril Tennis Club.
